In one form or another, what we're doing at Sell the Lie is something we've been doing for years - recommending good music.  Back before the internet age we made mix tapes.  Once CD burners became the norm we burned CDs.  When MP3 files hit the scene we started making playlists.  Now, we have high speed connections and the supposed Web 2.0.  What does all this mean?  It means that now we have a chance to hype up deserving artists to anyone with an internet connection.  Is it really that much different than handing off a mix tape before 4th period?  No, not really.  It's just a hell of a lot easier.

Worst thing that has ever happened to me (physically): I got pepper sprayed on basically a dare.  It was the worst pain ever.

My very first CD: I owned Cracked Rear View (Hootie and the Blowfish) on cassette; and then I bought Somewhere More Familiar... by Sister Hazel, and the Space Jam soundtrack.  Awesome.

My First Concert: The X96 Show, same as Stu.  The Counting Crows show we went to later was much, much better.

About Kraig

Name: Kraig Hill

Age: 23

Height: 5'7"

Hair: Brown

Eyes: Brown

Birth Date: August 22

Profession: By day I'm in middle-management for a market research company.  So, basically I'm the guy telling the guys to tell the kids to call you while you're eating and force you into doing surveys about toilet paper.  Ha!

Where do you live?: In Logan, UT at my cat's house.

The car I currently own/drive: Well, right now it's mostly pedaling power, but when I drive it's my uber-stickered '96 Civic.

Instruments I can “play”: Piano, Guitar, French Horn, Drums.  Well, not really the drums but I DO play better than Meg White so that has to count for something, right???

Post High School Education: I currently attend USU pursuing a mysterious and unknown degree.

Favorite Color: Blue

Worst thing that has ever happened to me (physically): It all happened back in 2003, October 3rd to be exact.  Stu, my brother (Ken), my then-girlfriend now-wife Katie and myself were all on our way to a kick ass BRMC show.  We were driving straight, some car decided to turn left to join us on the road and decided not to notice us.  After impact (we were going about 60 MPH) we spun off the road and hit a giant tree.  The tree made it out okay, the rest of us took an ambulance (2 actually) to the ER and were released later that night.  I made out with a broken wrist, Katie had some wiplash and ad broken rib, Ken had some internal lacerations  on his lung and spleen and Stu had about 3 stitches on his knee.  Don't let him fool you into thinking he was bashed and bruised (thought it was scary as hell).  Oh yeah, and it was the first date for Katie and I.  How romantic!  Nothing can beat a first date in an ER

Top 10 Favorite Bands/Artists: (In no particular order) Pearl Jam, The Beatles, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, Collective Soul, The Who, Ryan Adams (NOT Bryan damnit!), Black Lab, Mason Jennings, Joseph Arthur

My very first CD: All-4-One.  I know, I know...

My First Concert: If we're talking about REAL concerts here then I suppose it was Counting Crows.  We did see Howie Day about a week before that but it was an in-store performance.

Top 10 Favorite Movies: Hmmm...this one is really hard.  Again, in no particular order here.  The Departed, The Matrix (first one), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Thank You For Smoking, I Heart Hukabees, Batman Begins, Star Wars V:  Empire Strikes Back, The Two Towers, Tommy Boy

Favorite TV Shows: LOST(!), Heroes, The 4400, Burn Notice, The Closer, The Office, Family Guy, Law & Order (yes, even though it's split into 100 different shows)...ah, and the guilty pleasures my wife makes me watch:  Grey's Anatomy and Brothers & Sisters.

Favorite Saturday Morning Cartoon Show: It's a toss up between TMNT and Captain Planet, but I'm feelin' more green...

Favorite Drink: If we're talkin' hard drinks here nothing beats a Fat Tire.  If I'm not permitted my alcohol then I'll go with a Cherry Coke.

Favorite Condiment: BBQ Sauce, anything but that shit with the bull on the label.  Damn, that's nasty.

Favorite Candy Bar: Reeses Cups

Favorite Book: I'm a big Robert Jordan fan, so you can really take any of the Wheel of Time series.  #3 (The Dragon Reborn) is my favorite though.

About Stu

Name: Stu

Height: 5' 10"

Hair: Black

Eyes: Hazel

Birth Date: April 2nd

Profession: I order textbooks for a bookstore.  Mass quantities of textbooks, to be precise.

Where do you live?: Logan, UT, in a snazzy apartment

The car I currently own/drive: an '89 Nissan Sentra

Instruments I can “play”: Notice the quotes around play, cause yeah, I can totally "play" the guitar, trumpet and harmonica.

Post High School Education: Here's a tip for any kid completing high school and unsure on their future: try to figure out what sort of job/occupation/career that most interests you before you further your education.  That way you can tailor your post high school education to help you succeed in what you want to do.  Or, if that sounds boring or stupid to you, you can go straight to college, take classes that interest you but lead to no career in particular, and graduate with degrees in philosophy and economics like I did.

Favorite Color: Blue

Worst thing that has ever happened to me (physically): Here's the story: Kraig, his bro, his friend Katie (who would later become his wife Katie) and I were on our way to a concert (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, who we've still never seen live) when we got in a pretty bad car crash.  I still don't know if any of us know entirely what happened; either we got T-boned, or we T-boned the car trying to cross when it was impossible to do so.  All I know for sure is I got dashboard in my knees and airbag in my face, and that we ended up running into a tree too.  The whole incident made me painfully aware of my own mortality.  Plus, I had to get all stitched up, which I think remains to this day my worst injury.

Top 10 Favorite Bands/Artists: Pete Yorn, Our Lady Peace, Death Cab for Cutie, Flickerstick, the old Howie Day, Incubus, Jimmy Eat World, Muse, Third Eye Blind, The Damnwells

My very first CD: It's funny, I was trying to think all the way back to the first cassette tape I bought, because CD's have even been a new-ish thing in my lifetime, how amazing is that?  Anyway, my very first CD was either Third Eye Blind or Savage Garden.

My First Concert: It's called the Big Ass Show, and it is put on every year by this local radio station, X96.  They book a bunch of bands and hold it at the state fairgrounds on two stages.  I believe the first year I went some of the bands included: Our Lady Peace, Chevelle, Goldfinger, The Used, I want to say Yellowcard, Papa Roach and I think Story of the Year.  Yuck.  A couple months later all three of us went to see the Counting Crows, but the Big Ass Show would technically be my first concert.

Top 10 Favorite Movies: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, I Heart Huckabees, The Fifth Element, High Fidelity, Snatch, Donnie Darko, Supertroopers, Love Actually, Fight Club, Vanilla Sky

Favorite TV Shows: The Office, Firefly, Arrested Development, Simpsons, Harvey Birdman, Venture Brothers, Big O, Cowboy Bebop

Favorite Saturday Morning Cartoon Show: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles when I was really little, but the true Saturday morning cartoon (the one that I would actually force myself to wake up early to see) was X-Men.  That show was sooo good, and Gambit was the coolest, no one can deny that!

Favorite Drink: Basing this entirely on amount consumed, it's got to be either Gatorade or Kool-Aid (I'm not much of a drinker, as you can tell)

Favorite Condiment: I refuse to practice safe lunch, I never use a condiment!  It's better without, trust me.

Favorite Candy Bar: I'd have to say a Kit-Kat bar

Favorite Book: Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy or one (or all) of the Discworld books.  My favorite of that set is likely Small Gods.
