From the Mail Bag

We here at Sell the Lie get literally dozens of emails each week. On some lucky days, tucked in between the Larry the Cable Guy forwards and the responses to Craig's List ads, we find excellent music. Here's a little taste of what's been on my mind and in my ears lately.
Drew Blackard
Don't be thrown off by the very country song titles, like "Fallen Mockbird," or the crazy long album title (Right About Now I'd Like to Move to Austin and Buy a Purple House). Drew Blackard layers ethereal keyboards and simple hand-clap percussion under smart lyrics like "all this decency is getting on my nerves/ learning to express myself without four-letter words." It's soulful acoustic guitar pop.
Drew's new EP is self-released and available on Amazon and iTunes. It's the one with the crazy-long name, check it out!

Unicycle Loves You
If you're like me, you like your synthesizers gnarly (that is, straight out of the 80's), and your guitar riffs punked out and doubled.
Unicycle Loves You started as Jim Carroll's solo project simply called Unicycle. Later band members Jon Pollock, Nicole Vitale, Adam Labrada, and J.T. Baker were added, and - apparently - Unicycle fell in love. Awww...
The self-titled album was released June 10th, so get to rocking!
