"The Fireman" Returns

I really should have had this to all of you much, much earlier and I apologize for my tardiness.  The school + work combo has been killing me over the past month or so, but now both are winding down nicely to allow me to have a nice Christmas holiday and get back to the bloggin that I oh-so-love.

Anyways, some of you may be thinking "Fireman?  Who the hell is this Fireman?  And why a picture of Sir Paul?".  These are good questions, read on...

I wasn't aware of The Fireman until recently either, though now I can say I'm quite glad that I decided to wiki the man, the myth, the legend - Sir Paul McCartney - in order to find out more about this mysterious persona.

It turns out, The Fireman is Paul's little side-project with Youth - a producer you may remember from The Verve's Urban Hymns.  They released three albums since '93, though I'd after hunting down the first two I'd deem them as more or less un-listenable.  Lots of electronica, not so kind to my rock 'n roll accustomed ears.

Their latest release, Electronic Arguments, feels much more like a Paul McCartney record than either of it's two predecessors.  I've been a big fan of Paul's two latest releases, and I can say without reservation that this one tops both.  It brings the quiet pop from Chaos and Creation and the happy rock/pop of Memory Almost Full and slaps it with some good ol' fashioned Wings-esque arena-rock to give us a very delightful dose of Paul.

The album represents Paul far better than most of his work.  If you haven't given it a listen yet, I'd highly recommend picking up a copy.  I've included the first (and my favorite) track to help make your decision easier.
